Friends remember Shockoe Bottom shooting victim

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The victim of a Shockoe Bottom shooting died Saturday afternoon and friends who grew up with him say this was a senseless act of violence.

20-year-old Justin Morgan was partying at Have A Nice Day Cafe Friday night when he was shot in the face just outside of the club around 2:00 a.m.

A graduate of Hugenot High School, Morgan had a bright future to look forward to.

"He mainly was a normal guy, normal kid, good kid overall," said Wilson Little. "He wasn't no trouble maker, none of that, so just sad."

Little remembers Morgan as a guy who would make all his friends laugh. He liked to have a good time.

"I knew Justin for years. We all great up in the same neighborhood; just tragic," said Little.

The night of the shooting, police say a fight broke out in the street. Wilson says he doesn't understand why Justin would be involved, but says he went to console Justin's mother.

"Yeah, went to go see her, talk to her for a little bit. She knows it's a sad situation. She's holding on right now," said Little.
