Should I be taking aspirin?

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is answering a question many of his patients have, "should I be taking aspirin?"

There is no widespread agreement on when or if healthy individuals should start taking aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease like heart attacks and stroke.

Determination on whether it is beneficial to take aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease is based on the benefits of taking the drug versus the risk of complications from it.

Since this is an individualized decision, you should discuss with your doctor whether it is a good idea to start taking aspirin therapy.
