Man accused of hitting clerk and robbing store

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A Henrico man is arrested in connection to a robbery and assault at a jewelry store in Virginia Center Commons.

Police say 22-year-old Taquan Hobbs told the salesman at Diamond Expressions he wanted to look at rings. After Hobbs' credit card was declined, he gave the clerk $40 for one of the rings.

Then, he's accused of jumping the counter and hitting the sales-man with the credit card reader. Police say Hobbs took both the rings and the money.

Witnesses followed him into the parking lot to get a description of his car. Police arrested Hobbs near Libbie and Broad a short time later.
