RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Tyson Fresh Meats is recalling more than 131,000 pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with e-coli.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says it became aware of the problem when Ohio health authorities reported a family in Butler County had become ill with e-coli.
Products being recalled include Kroger-brand ground beef, Butcher's brand beef and generic label beef — all produced August 23.
As far as we know, the only one of those sold in Virginia is Butcher's brand, sold at Food Lion.
All of the affected beef had a "use by" date of September 12, but health officials are worried, some people may have frozen it for later use.
