RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond Police Department has made an arrest in a homicide that occurred this morning in Hillside Court in South Richmond.
At 9:24 am, officers were called to 1652 Rosecrest Avenue for a report of shots fired. Inside the residence, they discovered Lamarco Brown, 24, of the 2500 block of Harwood Street, unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:36 am.
"Several witnesses to the shooting provided us with an excellent description of the suspect," said Lt. Jeff Goodson. "We asked the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to help us locate him."
A few hours later, members of the Task Force arrested Giorgio S. Fulton, 23, of the 1600 block of Glenfield Avenue, on an outstanding warrant for conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Members of the department's Faith Leaders Council also responded to the scene to counsel relatives of the victim and other residents. They have been part of an increased police presence in Hillside Court since three homicides occurred there last January, participating in neighborhood walks and holding monthly meetings sponsored by the department.
"The Faith Leaders have been a valuable resource to the department," said Deputy Chief John Buturla. "What they did today in Hillside Court is a good example of the help they've been providing to the residents there for much of the year."
