Cycling event pep rally Wednesday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A week after learning Richmond will host the 2015 World Road Cycling Championships, organizers are throwing a pep rally for the event.

The rally will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the James Center Plaza, on East Cary Street.

Mayor Dwight Jones and Governor Bob McDonnell will be there.

The cycling tour will cost about $18 million to $19 million to hold the event, but the city is expecting a return of about $135 million.
