Exercise with purpose

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - In Hopewell, Dr. John Clay is teaching his patients to exercise with a purpose.

Get out your "comfort zone."

Many people don't get an adequate heart rate response to give maximal cardiovascular benefit.

Attempt to get your heart rate up to at least 50 percent of your maximum heart rate for 30 minutes five times per week.

If you are beginning an exercise program, consult your physician.
