RICHMOND, VA - Richmond Police made arrests today in two recent murders in the city.
Demario Lafayette Stokes, 32, is charged with murder in the fatal Aug. 23 shooting of Antonio Spruill inside a Chamberlayne Avenue apartment.
Kareem Montrell Tillar, 21, is charged with murder in the death of Jamel Cobb, who was gunned down Sept. 18 in the 2100 block of Newbourne Street.
Both suspects are in custody at the Richmond City Jail.
The Richmond Police Department would like to thank the many members of the community who came forward with information to assist the detectives in both investigations and the members of the media for continuing coverage of these shootings, which aided in the arrests.
To date, 19 of the city's 26 murders in 2011 have been cleared by arrest.
