RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A car crashes into the back of a utility truck while a man is in the bucket working on a power pole.
It happened overnight Thursday at the corner of Three Chopt and Cary Street — near the University of Richmond.
Police said that the driver of the car, Timothy Ray Altice, 53, of Midlothian, was charged with DUI. Police said he had been drinking and driving with no headlights, in an area where there are few street lights.
The hood of the car was basically underneath the back of the bucket truck.
Gary George was in the bucket of the utility truck at the time of the crash.
"He just came out of nowhere, just ran into the back of the truck," said George. "Didn't even slow down, nothing, just right into the back of it."
The driver is currently in the hospital. He's expected to be okay.
