Woman faces $250 fine for deadly crash

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)-An update on the woman accused of causing an accident that killed a Henrico police officer.

Thursday in court, a judge decided to reduce Ann Key's reckless driving charge to a failure to yield charge.

The Henrico substitute teacher was charged for the July crash that killed Thomas Berry Junior on John Rolfe Parkway. The judge said Key was not reckless, clarifying that this was just a terrible accident.

She was ordered to pay a $250 fine, plus court fees.

"She didn't intend to do it....we all have to answer to a higher power," said Officer Berry's father after the judge's decision.

Berry's family has set up a scholarship fund in his name to encourage students to pursue opportunities in public service.
