Hundreds of SWAT members in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Hundreds of highly skilled law enforcement members are in town this week.

It's all part of a conference focusing on SWAT teams and crisis negotiations.

They're meeting up at the Richmond convention center to take a look at the latest technology.

But don't be surprised if you see them testing things out around the city, they are just practicing, in vacant buildings and military grounds.

"There's about 650 attendees," said Cpt. Ed Allen of Seminole County, FL.  "There's about 180 vendors. So all of those folks are going to be staying in the hotels, eating at your restaurants, and visiting all of the attractions within Richmond."

This is the first time Richmond is hosting the conference.

We are told the training sessions should not impact the general public.
