Break, home field enhance Squirrels' chances

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Squirrels were happy to warm-up at The Diamond Thursday afternoon for two reasons.  For one, they hadn't been on a baseball field since the final day of the regular season on Monday.  Secondly, they were supposed to be in Harrisburg.

But miserable weather in Pennsylvania made the first two games of the Western Division Championship unplayable in Harrisburg.  The Squirrels came back to Richmond Wednesday night, with the belief that the entire series will probably take place at The Diamond.

That's certainly a good thing.  The Squirrels finished the regular season with a 45-26 record at home, the best home record in the Eastern League by 6 victories.  The Senators, however, did boast the best road record in the EL.

In addition to the new home field advantage - the rest certainly helped the Squirrels.  Richmond played through almost two weeks of what felt like must-win games.  Now after almost a full week off, their batteries have been re-charged for what should be an emotional weekend series.

First pitch for Game One on Friday night will remain as scheduled for 7:05 PM, and gates will open at 6:00 PM; however, first pitch for Game Two on Saturday has been rescheduled to start at 6:05 PM. Gates on Saturday will still open at 5:00 PM.

Game Three of the best-of-five series is tentatively scheduled to be played on Sunday at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg with the game time to be determined. In addition, if necessary, Games Four and Five are tentatively scheduled to be played in Harrisburg as well with the date and time to be determined.

Single-game ticket pricing for all home post-season games will remain the same as regular season ticket pricing. Fans can also purchase the Flying Squirrels Playoff Package which includes Diamond Club tickets for ALL potential home games at a special price of $8.00 per ticket, per game played.
