Flooding forces schools close and delay

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - We've seen a significant amount of rainfall in recent days.

About 4 inches in the metro area since Tuesday.

Schools in New Kent County and Charles City County closed Thursday because of flooding.

Surry county issued a 2 hour delay, and King William County issued a 1 hour delay.

There are pockets of puddles along the side and in the roadway on streets like the Midlothian Turnpike which could pose a problem for motorists.

There were some weather related vehicle accidents Wednesday as well. In one of those accidents 13 people were injured and taken to the hospital.

You may want to give yourself extra time to get to your destination.

The roads are wet, high water is a concern, and more rain is expected Thursday.
