IRS Whistleblower Informant Award

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The IRS is offering money to anyone willing to turn in tax cheaters.

The Internal Revenue Service is offering a cut on the proceeds. And the more the IRS gets from that lawbreaker, the more you pocket.

There are two IRS Whistleblower programs.

The small awards program pays up to 15 percent on cases involving less than $2 million. The large one will net the whistleblower 30 percent on more than $2 million.

But there's no protection from retaliation and the earnings are taxable.
