RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Power crews will be working throughout the day Tuesday to restore electricity around the state.

At last check, 229,607 people in the metro Richmond area were still without power. 5,109 Rappohannock Electric Cooperative customers are still without electricity. 12:30 p.m. Update from Northern Neck Electric Cooperative:

"Thank you for your patience and understanding as Northern Neck Electric Co-op works to restore power after this devastating hurricane. Due to the nature of the damage, it will be approximately a week before NNEC restores power to all members. If you or someone in your family has a medical condition that requires electricity, please seek an alternate site to relocate. There are 8900 members without power at this time.

NNEC has 3 line crews that work on a daily basis. Currently another 130 linemen and contractors from various states are working with our staff to restore power. We have 15 right-of-way crews cutting trees off our system, and 20 construction crews setting new poles, running wire and replacing damaged equipment. Today most of the crews are working in Bay Quarter Shores, Leedstown, Wellfords Wharf, Route 301 & King George, Ophelia, Coles Point, Newland, Ottoman, Mollusk, Lara, Hales Point, Morattico, lower Stafford County, Newland, Oak Grove, Drum Bay/Glebe Harbor, the Folly Substation area and Avalon.

Stay away from any downed power line or tree on the line. Notify NNEC of any downed power lines, trees on the line, or a power outage by calling 333-3621 or 800-243-2860."
