Hopewell, VA (WWBT)- Ricky Irby is entering his second season as Hopewell's head football coach and has reason to be optimistic after his debut campaign. The Blue Devils posted a 4-6 record, but posted convincing wins in their final two games, giving them momentum heading into the offseason.
2011 finds Irby with a year of head coaching experience under his belt, and returning a good number of starters on both sides of the ball. The defense will be anchored by senior linebacker Lamar Perry, who has Division I potential. Irby was very happy with the way his team worked during summer conditioning and throughout the preseason and is looking forward to taking the field for games.
Hopewell opens up its 2011 schedule at Cosby on September 9.
