Tough-as-nails quarterback leads Godwin

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Pound-for-pound, Dane Forlines may be the toughest player in the metro area. Godwin head coach John Phillips is hoping that his quarterback won't have to prove it as much this season.

As a sophomore last year, Forlines called his own number a little too often.  That led the 5'8" 160 lb quarterback to take way too many hits.  He kept getting up, but the Eagles come into this season hoping that's going to change.

Forlines, a self-proclaimed former running back, spent much of the offseason working on his arm and his accuracy.  That, plus one of the largest offensive lines in the Metro area, has the Eagles optimistic that they'll be able to keep their tough-as-nails quarterback off the ground.

And that combination also has the Eagles hopeful that in Phillips's second year they can get above the .500 mark.  The last two years they've finished 5-5, and they have not won the Colonial since 2007.
