RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - With Hurricane Irene approaching, several events around the metro area have been canceled or rescheduled.

Canceled Events

Charles City Back To School Rally
Canceled
This was originally scheduled for Saturday, August 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., however it has been canceled due to Irene.

Pat Benatar Concerts at Busch Gardens Williamsburg (Aug. 27-28)
Canceled
At this time, rescheduled performance dates have not been announced.

Postponed Events

Cops and Doughnuts Festival
Rescheduled
A new date has yet to be announced. This event was originally scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Krispy Kreme, 4910 W. Broad St.

King & Queen Farm Bureau Annual Meeting
Rescheduled
Scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28 has been postponed. The new date will be announced at a later time.

Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial kick off event
Rescheduled
Scheduled for Saturday morning at Fifth Street Baptist Church on W. Cary Street has been canceled due to the recent cancellation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial dedication ceremony in Washington, D.C. We hope to reschedule this event soon.

MPH, Inc. Fundraiser
Rescheduled
Originally scheduled for Saturday morning at 3165 Hull Street Road from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event will now take place Saturday, September 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the original location.

Northside WE CARE Festival
Rescheduled for September 3

Closings

The Chesterfield County Fair
The Chesterfield County Fair will be closed Saturday (8/27) due to Hurricane Irene. Fair officials were hopeful the storm would pass in time for the scheduled 1 pm opening on Sunday which was designated as Military Appreciation Day. The Ft. Lee Army Rock Band is scheduled to take the fair's grandstand stage at 1 pm . . . then the Elvis Tribute by Keith Henderson, canceled Saturday night, has been rescheduled for 4pm Sunday with the ZIV alternative rock concert following at 8 pm.

Chesterfield County school buildings
Due to impending inclement weather and Gov. McDonnell's declaration of a state of emergency for Virginia, all Chesterfield County school buildings are closed effective 7 p.m. on Friday. School buildings will continue to be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Kings Dominion
Closed Saturday
From www.kingsdominion.com -- "Due to the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Irene and for the safety of our guests and employees, Kings Dominion will be closed on Saturday August 27th. The Park will be open on Sunday, August 28th."

Petersburg National Battlefield Park
Closed Saturday and Sunday
