RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Just an hour before practice on Tuesday, the University of Richmond football team was told by the school's athletic director that their head coach resigned, after being charged with a DWI. Wednesday a pair of the team's leaders spoke to the media about the situation.
Senior offensive lineman Richard Muldrow and junior linebacker Darius McMillan said they were "shocked", and McMillan added that it was like a "joke with no punchline".
But after a brief period of confusion and doubt, the players had a team meeting, and decided that they would tackle this challenge and go back to work. The team has just nine days before their opener against Duke.
Also, the players said their motto all offseason was "No Excuses", and they're going to use that more after Scott's resignation.
