Coast Guard rescues two Virginia boaters

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Coast Guard rescued two Virginia boaters from a sinking ship Saturday afternoon.

This happened 45 miles off the coast of North Carolina.

A person aboard the Reel Escape, from Glen Allen, made a distress call to say the vessel was taking on water. A radio beacon guided rescuers to the boat.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted the two boaters to safety. They say neither appeared to be injured.
