RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Saturday night, Richmond's historic Jackson Ward was full of good food and live music for the 21st Annual Down Home Family Reunion.
The free event took place in Abner Clay Park and combined West African and African American cultures into one big festival. Music ranged from soul and funk to African dance and folklore.
Herbert Jeffries with says the event only gets better with time.
"I was born and raised here in Jackson Ward and I'm here every year," said Jeffries. "It gets better with every year to come because it gets bigger and bigger. You see people that you haven't seen in years."
The Down Home Family Reunion wraps up Sunday night at 11:00 p.m.
