RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Slow-moving storms dumped heavy rain across the state Sunday and were to blame for thousands of power outages.
At the height of the storms, Dominion Virginia Power listed 1,959 customers without power. Crews worked to restore electricity to many of those customers, but then had to respond to several more outages after another line of storms moved though late morning.
In Mechanicsville, a tree fell on a power line, which knocked out power in the area near Route 360 and Lee Davis Road. During that time, traffic signals were also without power, causing problems for morning commuters. Police in Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover responded to several storm-related accidents throughout the morning as well.
We'll also continue to track the possibility for more storms throughout the day. You can get the latest weather conditions by clicking http://www.nbc12.com/weather. Meteorologist Ros Runner will also provide the latest forecast tonight on NBC12 News at 6.
