Car crashes into Chesterfield Police cruiser

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - We're following a developing story out of Chesterfield County where a car has crashed into a Chesterfield Police cruiser.

This happened just after 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Hull Street and Courthouse Road. Police tell us the driver of a blue Pontiac ran a red light and struck a Chesterfield County Police vehicle.

The driver and a child passenger were taken to St. Francis Medical Center. The police officer was taken to Chippenham Medical Center. Police tell us there were no serious injuries in this accident, but all involved were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Chesterfield Police continue to investigate.
