Deputies seize 800 pot plants, 20 dogs

POWHATAN, VA (WWBT) - Hundreds of marijuana plants and dozens of dogs have been seized from a Powhatan County home.

This happened Friday in the 2400 block of Academy Road. Deputies responded to an animal cruelty complaint at the home of 53-year-old Randy Odum, but noticed several marijuana plants upon arrival.

After getting a search warrant, police say they seized 800 pot plants and more than 20 dogs. Most of the dogs were Yorkshire Terriers.

Odum is now in jail facing two drug charges. The dogs are with animal control.
