Man pleads guilty to boating under the influence after crash

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The man accused of driving a boat drunk and crashing into a buoy during a bachelor party pled guilty to boating under the influence Thursday morning in a Henrico County courtroom.

Christopher Parker, 32, of New Kent County was sentenced to 12 months in jail, with 10 months suspended.  He was ordered not to operate a boat for 12 months.  He will pay a $1,000 fine.  He is authorized for work release and he will report next week.

The accident happened in May on the tidal James River near Osborne Boat Landing.

Police say several people on the boat were injured. We're told they've all recovered.

In July, prosecutors dropped the felony charges related to the accident.
