18 people, 4 dogs rescued in Rappahannock River

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The river levels for parts of the Rappahannock River may be too dangerous to go swimming or boating right now.

Sunday in Stafford, fire crews saved several canoeists and kayakers stranded in the high river waters.

A total of 18 people and four dogs were rescued.

Everyone is expected to be okay.

Due to the high waters some parks near the Rappahannock are closed until further notice.
