Thomas Prepares to Lead Hokie Offense

Blacksburg, VA (WWBT)- Frank Beamer and Virginia Tech has shaped quarterbacks that have been very successful leading the Hokies to big things.  The Vicks experienced a great deal of success, particularly Michael, with Sean Glennon and Tyrod Taylor also helping Virginia Tech to several ACC titles.  Now the Hokies and their fans hope Logan Thomas can do the same.

Thomas enters preseason camp as the Hokies' starting quarterback and continues to sharpen his skills with the first team offense.  His game experience is limited at best, as Thomas saw time in seven games last season, attempting just 26 passes and completing 12 of them.  His potential is what has Beamer and Virginia Tech expecting big things.  Thomas will have an experienced offensive line in front of him, along with talented receivers, such as Danny Coale and Jarrett Boykin.  He'll also have a solid backfield, anchored by David Wilson, to help take some pressure off the passing game.

The Hokies are picked to win the ACC Coastal Division, and their chances rely heavily on Thomas and his ability to perform.  Virginia Tech does not have a challenging non-conference schedule, which may make it easier for the redshirt sophomore to adjust to the starting role.

Virginia Tech opens its season on September 3 against Appalachian State at Lane Stadium.
