RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In Monroe Park, you can find dozens of homeless people trying to make it day by day.
Now, at this park, there are dozens of volunteers that are trying to save those lives by getting those homeless people off the streets and into a home.
These volunteers are all part of a program called, "One-Thousand Homes for One-Thousand Virginians."
The group doing this work says just last year, 17 homeless people died last year in Richmond.
The goal is to fix the homeless problem in the city.
That means doing whatever they can and going wherever they can.
The volunteers have been on the streets for about for about two hours now.
They will be back out there Tuesday and Wednesday morning too.
