PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) – A fatal accident along I-95 Saturday morning may have been caused by fatigue according to State Police investigators.
Around 6:30 a.m., police say 68-year-old Iannuzzi J. Enrico and his elderly mother were traveling south on I-95 when he ran off the road just south of the I-295 interchange.
Police say the vehicle flipped several times ejecting both occupants.
Iannuzzi died at the scene; his mother was taken by MedFlight to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say both were not wearing their safety belts.
Several southbound lanes of I-95 were closed while crews cleared the scene.
