RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - David Hathcock, the top aide to the City Council's President, has retired.
Hathcock has been at the center of a sexual harassment scandal involving a former council aide.
We have confirmed that Hathcock's last official day at City Hall was Thursday...he has two months of leave, so his official retirement day is October 1st.
In a statement to NBC12, Hathcock said it's been an honor working for the city, but said, quote: "The political climate makes it very difficult for those of us who believe in public service."
Council President Kathy Graziano tells us she's saddened by the development. Both Hathcock and Graziano are facing a civil lawsuit by the former council aide who claims she was groped by Hathcock.
