HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A driver believed to be responsible for flipping a SUV and injuring the passengers appeared in court Friday morning.
Police said Michael Benham, 20, lost control on Church Road just before 10 p.m. Thursday, when the jeep flipped several times and landed upside down in the intersection of Church Road and Sterlingwood Terrace.
The impact was so strong, the windows were shattered and everything inside was thrown all over the place.
Benham appeared in court Friday morning. He is being held without bond. His next court appearance is September 7.
Six people were hurt and hospitalized after the crash.
A lieutenant with Henrico Police told NBC12 everyone is expected to be okay.
The lieutenant said when police arrived Benham wasn't there.
Police found him a short time later and arrested him.
Benham is now facing several charges including DUI.
