Man exposes himself at Target store

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – An unsuspecting shopper gets more than she bargained for after a man flashes her at a Target store. It happened just this past Monday afternoon at the Target on Staples Mill Road.

There's a good chance police might catch him soon. Just minutes after the incident he was seen leaving the store on surveillance video.

It was another quiet afternoon at the Target on Staples Mill Road as shoppers made their way in and out of the store. None of the ones we spoke with had heard about the flasher police tell us approached a woman here just two days before.

"Oh my gosh!" said one shopper. "Well maybe a new Target from now on! We live very close to here so it's a bit concerning."

The news was enough to make him laugh uncomfortably as well as others who typically shop here. They had no idea why anyone would risk exposing themselves in a public place.

"For attention?" asked Therese O'Dea. "I don't know it's hard to put myself in this mindset! (Laughs)"

The woman was shopping with her son in a shopping cart when the suspect approached her, lifted up his shirt and exposed his penis. She immediately contacted Target employees who then contacted police.

"I would say something to him," said shopper Elizabeth Bandy. "I'd say, maybe, do you need to go to the bathroom?"

Security cameras caught the suspect leaving the store so police have seen the man they're looking for. While they might not know his name these shoppers know what they'd call him.

"Probably a pervert," said shopper Duggan O'Dea. "I think flasher is not a strong enough word for something like this."

The suspect didn't say anything to the woman who was browsing through the clothing aisle at the time. She and her son were not hurt. Her son in the cart with her was not facing that suspect and didn't see the man expose himself. Because of that, the suspect is only facing a misdemeanor charge.
