Chicken nuggets recalled for possible contamination

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A recall of thousands of pounds of ready-to-eat chicken is out this morning.

The meat could be contaminated with bacteria that can cause food poisoning.

Fully cooked chicken breast nuggets, made by Pilgrim's, were shipped to dozens of Dollar General stores in several states —  including Virginia.

The best-buy date on the nuggets is June 2, 2012.

The company believes the nuggets are tainted by listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause a serious infection.

It affects older adults, pregnant women, some children and adults with weak immune systems.

If you have any questions about this recall, call the company at 1-800-321-1470.

At this point there are no reports that anyone has gotten sick.
