City council passes new noise ordinance

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - At Monday night's meeting, Richmond City Council approved a new noise ordinance after months without a law governing how loud you can be in the city.

A judge declared Richmond's old ordinance unconstitutional when it was challenged by a local rock band.

Councilman Charles Samuels says this new wording protects people and personal freedoms. It passed unanimously.

We will have more information on the noise ordinance later Tuesday.
