Charges could be filed in Middlesex boating accident

MIDDLESEX, VA (WWBT) – Investigators say charges could be filed later this week stemming from the boating accident Saturday in Middlesex County.

Middlesex Police will be meeting with the Commonwealth's Attorney later this week and the Virginia Marine Police may be filing charges of its own.

Five people were injured when the 22-foot recreational boat they were on crashed into a rock wall off the Rappahannock River in Urbanna.  Police found empty beer cans and liquor bottles on board.

Police say the boat does not belong to any of the people that were on board.  Investigators say they stole the boat and took it on a joyride.

All five people on board are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.
