Free gas this Saturday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Two words: Free Gas! It's happening this Saturday and all you have to do to fill up is show up!

This Saturday morning the free gas station will be announced! All you have to do is show up at that location and someone from Mount Gilead International will be there to fill up your tank for free!

$3.41, $3.57 on up to $3.69 a gallon. Gas prices have gone up and down in the recent weeks. This Saturday though, the only price you'll pay at the pump is zero.

"We're excited about this opportunity for us to bless the community with free gas!" said Mount Gilead International co-pastor, Elena Robertson.

It's part of a project called "Praising at the Pump." Mount Gilead church leaders plan to give away $7,000 worth of free gas on a first come first served basis.

"We are a church that believes in touching the community and sharing the love of God," said Robertson. "God so loved the world that he gave and we believe in giving as well."

It's the second time around for the church's gas giveaway. This time drivers wondering where to get in line before Saturday are going to have to wait to find out!

"We're not disclosing the location!" said Mount Gilead COO, Juliette Davis. "The reason why is because we really believe that it will cause mass chaos."

Mass chaos is right! You might have seen the scene back in April on Williamsburg Road during another free gas day. Church officials are waiting until Saturday morning to make the location public in hopes of blessing someone unexpectedly.

"$7,000 will probably go very quickly I believe once everybody knows so we're trying to reach the community as a surprise," said Robertson.

Church leaders tell us Richmond Police will be there to handle any traffic problems. To find out the location make sure you tune in to NBC 12 News this Saturday at 9 AM. That's when we'll make the announcement.
