RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The parents of a north Carolina man accused of killing a woman and taking her body to Virginia say the victim was "like a daughter" to them.
John Mascaro says he and his wife, Sylvia, were friends with the family of 18-year-old Danielle Dennis-Towne.
Mascaro's son, 19-year-old Enrico Mascaro, is charged in the girl's death.
The two were reported missing from the Mascaro's Nags Head home. Investigators found Mascaro's empty car in Clifton Forge, Va.
Dennis-Towne's body was found in the trunk. Authorities say she was shot in the head.
