Crook tries to break into Chester home twice the same night

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – A bold and determined criminal tries to break into a Chesterfield home not just once but twice on the same night! This happened on the 12400 block of Ivyridge Turn overnight Tuesday then again an hour later.

The victim is a bit shaken up but is thankful that Chesterfield Police have been in contact with her trying to catch this guy. Unfortunately she might not recognize him again even though she saw him twice.

"I was sitting right here," pointed victim, Ashleigh Back.

The 19-year-old was sitting on the couch just moments before someone tried to break into her house. She heard a strange sound coming from their back porch door and went to investigate.

"So I went and turned our lights on and as I did that I saw what appeared to be a male running down the stairs," said Ashleigh.

Startled, she ran upstairs to wake her parents.

"I came down turned on the lights," said Ashleigh's father Wayne. "I went out the back just looked around in our backyard around the pool."

After finding nothing, her parents hoped the suspect had been scared off. Just about an hour later though he struck again!

"Then around 1:30 I'm sitting here, our wind chime is kinda making some noise and I'm like, the winds not blowing!" said Ashleigh. "And I had seen the same suspect as before."

After the suspect came on to the porch for the second time he took off down the stairs. Unfortunately Ashleigh only saw the back of his head and was not able to get a good description of the suspect.

"This person really obviously wants to get in the house or they wanted to scare us," said Ashleigh.

"Why??" asked her father. "There's nothing here. If you want it just come and ask."

We spotted Chesterfield Police in the neighborhood less than 24 hours after the attempted break in. The family of seven living in the house is just thankful one of them was up to scare the suspect off. Thankfully nothing was taken because the suspect never actually got into the home.
