COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Michael Curry, the man convicted of killing his wife and children with a bush ax 25 years ago, has been sentenced to serve three life terms in prison.
Thursday Curry's lawyer is pushed for an acquittal motion for a directed verdict. He said the evidence brought forth by the district attorney and presented to the jury was circumstantial.
District Attorney Julia Slater says she can go back through all the evidence and give reasons why Michael Curry is guilty.
Judge John Allen denied the defense's motion saying there was directed evidence in the case that could have pointed to Curry in this circumstantial case.
Curry was found guilty this spring of murdering his pregnant wife and two young children with a bush-ax in 1985.
He was not charged with the murders until 2009, after the cold case had been reopened by the Columbus Police Department.
