Forensics assists in identifying home burglar suspect

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - On May 12, officers responded to the 300 block of Wagner Avenue in Hopewell in reference to a residential burglary.

Through investigation it was determined that approximately $500, various electronics and power tools were stolen during the ransacking of the home.

Through diligent investigation and forensic evidence that was collected at the crime scene and subsequently analyzed by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, Charles Anthony Gray Jr., 24, of Hopewell, was identified as the offender by authorities.

Warrants of arrest for Burglary and Grand Larceny were obtained and on July 19, Gray was arrested without incident in the 400 block of S. 21st Ave. He was subsequently transported to the Riverside Regional Jail pending his arraignment.
