AP: Virginia has a $311 million surplus

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Documents obtained by the Associated Press show that Virginia's government ended the last fiscal year, on June 30, with a surplus of $311 million dollars.

We've also learned Governor McDonnell plans to hold a news conference today to detail how state government ended the year in the black.

Revenues show the bulk of the surplus comes from individual income tax collections.

They exceeded official budgeted forecasts by nearly $200 million dollars.
