HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is giving us the details on "impaired fasting glucose."
It is often referred to as "pre-diabetes", meaning blood sugars are above the normal range but not diagnostic of diabetes.
Many patients with above normal glucose levels progress onto diabetes and aggressive intervention is necessary to prevent this problem from worsening.
It is treated with the same interventions as diabetes: weight loss, exercise, education on appropriate diet, and often medication.
