CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - It is a problem that even if you never step foot on a tennis court. Tennis elbow has more to do with the repetitive motion of a joint that it has to do with chasing a yellow ball around a court.
Dr. Larry Benson deals with many sports related injuries like tennis elbow. It occurs in people who swim, swing a golf club, or even use a computer keyboard or play piano.
It is caused by activities that involve forceful and/or continuous wrist motions or a large amount of stabilization at the wrist.
Symptoms include +pain and tenderness along the (outer) elbow, difficulty gripping without pain, decreased grip strength and wrist strength,
Treatment includes ice, rest, stretching and medication daily. Surgery is required in serious cases.
