Chesterfield man arrested in Robious Middle arson

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Following a joint investigation by Chesterfield County's Fire Marshal's Office and Police Department, authorities have arrested a man in connection with an arson that occurred early Sunday morning at Robious Middle School, 2701 Robious Crossing.

On Sunday, July 10, a suspect entered the school and intentionally started a fire that resulted in extensive smoke damage. Tips generated by surveillance photos of the suspect led police and fire investigators to Robert W. Altizer, 22, of the 11800 block of Charterhouse Drive. On Thursday evening, authorities arrested Altizer on charges of arson, breaking and entering and felony vandalism.

He was being held in the Chesterfield County Jail pending a hearing Friday morning in Chesterfield County General District Court.
