Free outdoor movie series kicks off Friday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will kick off its third year of free movies this Friday.

"Megamind" will be showing at 8 p.m. in Byrd Park beside Fountain Lake.

There will be six more free movie nights in Richmond's Parks:

"Despicable Me" — July 22 in Battery Park, 2803 Dupont Circle.

"Alpha and Orange" — July 29 in Hotchkiss Community Center, 701 E. Brookland Park Blvd.

"Shrek Forever After" — August 5 in Mary Mumford Playground, 211 Wesmoreland St.

"Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" — August 11 in Bryan Park, 4308 Hermitage Road.

"Sister Act II" — August 12 in Byrd Park's Dogwood Dell, 1100 Blanton Ave.

"Tangled" — August 19 in Forest Hill Park, 4021 Forest Hill Ave.

All movies will begin at 8 p.m. and are rated PG.

The department's movie night series is co-sponsored by 106.5 the Beat.
