RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - They didn't last long — some of you probably even dodged the rain — but the storms did cause some damage. Trees and power lines came down Wednesday night.
Strong winds blew over a huge tree in Hopewell.
It fell on top of a home on South 14th Street, damaging a couple of rooms inside the home.
The man who rents there was inside watching TV when the tree fell. He wasn't hurt.
The owner says he'll get it moved Thursday. Meanwhile, the Red Cross is giving him another place to stay.
In Richmond, a tree fell across Grove Avenue, near Woodlawn.
It blocked the road and knocked out street lights in the area for a few hours. No one was hurt.
Crews spent the evening cleaning it up and getting the road re-opened.
