Accident on I-95 N at Bryan Park shuts down lanes

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Virginia State Police responded to a reported single vehicle crash on Interstate 95 northbound at the Bryan Park interchange.

A 1997 Lexus ES300 was traveling northbound in the right lane when the driver lost control of her vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle struck the jersey wall and overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, Deneen L. Edmonds, 36, of Chesterfield, who was not wearing her safety belt, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash. The front seat passenger, Drevon Edmonds, 18, of Chesterfield, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries in the crash.  It remains under investigation whether Drevon was wearing his safety belt.

Both occupants were transported by ambulance to VCU Medical Center.  Speed is considered a factor in the ongoing crash investigation.

All lanes were reopened shortly before 1 p.m. this afternoon.
