CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - You may be able to recognize the person suspected of setting fire to a Chesterfield middle school.
Police released surveillance pictures Monday, showing a man breaking into Robious Middle School on Sunday.
They say he's likely in his late teens, and investigators say anyone who knows him should be able to identify him.
Monday crews started the massive cleanup.
School officials say there is extensive smoke damage throughout the building. The school is in the middle of a yearlong renovation project.
Ceiling tiles taken down during the construction allowed the smoke to spread even farther.
Police say whoever did this will face a slew of charges.
"There would be arson, vandalism, breaking and entering," said Lt. Randy Horowitz of the Chesterfield Police Department. "I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting."
Robious doesn't host summer school so the next classes here are scheduled for after Labor Day.
School officials hope two months will be enough to clean up the building, but they're still trying to figure out how much damage was done.
Meanwhile, investigators hope someone will recognize this man from the surveillance pictures.
Police say he broke into the school and set a fire inside around 5 o'clock Sunday morning.
The pictures also show the suspect using a chair to break another window inside the school.
"We feel comfortable that anyone that knows this person when they see the video, when they see the pictures on TV, they'll be able to identify them," Horowitz said.
Police are pleased with the quality of the surveillance photos, but they're still trying to fine tune them, including getting a better look at the logo on the hat.
