Anglers Compete in Bassmaster Northern Open

Richmond, VA (WWBT)- The Bassmaster Northern Open concluded on Saturday, as some of the country's best anglers took to the James River in competition.  At the end of the three day event, a skilled angler found himself leading the charge from start to finish.

Kelly Pratt won the Pro Division of the 2011 Bassmaster Northern Open, tallying a three day catch of 42 pounds, 6 ounces, besting runner-up Randall Tharp by five pounds.  He takes home a brand new boat and a cash prize for a total value of $53,867.  He also earns a berth in the 2012 Bassmaster Classic, which will be held on the Red River in Shreveport, Louisiana.  That will take place February 24-26.

Michael Rinaldi took home the title in the co-angle division.  His three day weight totaled 18 pounds and he won a boat with a total value of $35,000.  He bested Richmond's own Kevin Davenport, who finished second with a total weight of 17 pounds, 2 ounces.  Chesterfield's Jon Dodson also competed in the event.

The circuit will head to Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio, for its next even August 25-27.
