RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Monday night's storms put a damper on some 4th of July celebrations. Several displays, including the big one at Dogwood Dell, were rained out, but you still have a chance to see the annual spectacle.
Torrential rain and quite a lightning show lit up the sky and sent thousands of people scrambling for cover Monday night.
City leaders tell us they tried everything they could to get the fireworks in on America's birthday.
But that didn't happen. So right now things are on for Tuesday night, weather permitting.
The concert band will take the stage at Dogwood Dell at 7 p.m. Fireworks will blast off at 8:30 p.m.
The City of Colonial Heights will have its fireworks display Tuesday.
There will also be fireworks at The Diamond Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The fireworks at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds were canceled and will not be rescheduled.
